Upon completion, students will be able to:

  1. Apply privacy, security, and confidentiality standards to protect patient health information in compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  2. Navigate and manage electronic health record (EHR) systems to accurately enter, update, retrieve, and maintain patient data.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity in electronic records.
  4. Support clinical and administrative workflows by organizing, verifying, and communicating patient information within healthcare settings.
  5. Use data management and reporting tools within EHR systems to assist with quality improvement, scheduling, billing, and regulatory compliance activities.
