Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver
UAS welcomes senior citizens to its classrooms and waives tuition for those eligible under Board of Regents policy R05.10.080.B. Regular tuition shall be waived for Alaska residents who meet the following criteria: they must be age eligible to receive full (unreduced) social security retirement benefits and they must register on a space available basis. "Space available basis" means when courses can accommodate such students in addition to other enrolled students.
- Full social security benefits age is currently age 66 and 10 months, residents born after 1960 will reach full benefit age at 67. Please contact the Student Accounts with any questions about eligibility. email@example.com
- Tuition waivers are unlimited to enroll in any class offered by UAS for which they are qualified except those in which maximum enrollment capacity has been met.
- Senior citizens using tuition waivers may register on or after the first day of the semester. Senior citizens who register before these times are not eligible for the tuition waiver. Also, senior citizens who paid normal tuition to register early will not be allowed to drop and later re–add the class to take advantage of the waiver. The waiver is for tuition only and does not cover lab or materials fees, the Campus Consolidated Fee, or the Network Charge.
- Community Education, Sponsored, and Self-Support classes are not eligible for senior tuition waivers.
